In-Person/Live-Stream Worship: “Hazard Ahead: Tourist Traps”

  • Arlington Community Church 52 Arlington Avenue Kensington, CA, 94707 United States (map)

On this Reign of Christ Sunday we’ll look at the final temptation of Jesus for the church, the temptation to rule the world! Imperialism can take two forms in the church, confusing our faith with a quest for domination, or turning our faith into a convenient distraction while we benefit from imperial power. How can we resist becoming a “tourist trap” and instead be a sanctuary, protecting the vulnerable from earthly powers?

As we continue to recognize Native American Heritage month, we’ll read a special “Gratitude Prayer” by Inés Hernández-Avila of the Niimiipuu tribe. We’ll enjoy Special Music this Sunday from our Choir and Bell Choir, directed by Jeffrey Frederick Paul and accompanied by Tim K. Murphy. Rev. Jen Chapman will preach and lead the service, and Ruth Robinson will serve as Liturgist. Childcare will be available during the service for children ages 2 and up.
