Spectrum: Aging as a Spiritual Practice

  • Arlington Community Church 52 Arlington Avenue Kensington, CA, 94707 United States (map)

“The experience of aging is itself a doorway to spiritual practice, one that transcends any particular religion or faith”
—Lewis Richmond

Please join us for a Spectrum on Sunday, May 31st 11:30-12:10 PM. The Spectrum will provide a brief overview of the book, Aging as a Spiritual Practice, by Lewis Richmond, along with an interactive conversation around several key concepts explored in the book.

As Richmond points out, we all are aging! Richmond brings his own Buddhist beliefs and practice to this book of reflections to offer, in his own words, “a variety of spiritual practices to the phenomenon of aging.”

We welcome folks of all ages and life stages to attend this Spectrum and to consider joining a book discussion group that will begin in June and continue for six weeks (attendance at every session is not required). A proposed outline of topics for six weekly meetings will be shared at this Spectrum.

Book discussion group: For folks who wish to take a deeper dive, a book discussion series focused on the book, “Aging as a Spiritual Practice: Rumination Conversation,” will be offered weekly in June and early July on Zoom.

It will not be necessary to have read the book in order to participate in the Rumination Conversation, but it will be helpful. The book will not be discussed cover to cover. Portions of the book to be explored each week will be announced a week in advance. Spiritual practices provided by Richmond will be tried each week, as well.

People who are interested in joining the Rumination Conversation group will be able to sign up on May 31st or can email Rachel (if you don’t have Rachel’s email please reach out to Jacob in the office).
