In keeping with Pastor Jen’s focus on justice and mercy this month, the Board of Faith and Spiritual Life offers the film “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
It’s a moving story about a lawyer in the rural south in the 1920’s who takes on the defense of a black man who has been falsely accused of rape. What do we need to fight injustice? Atticus Finch has it: courage, empathy, understanding, hope—even hope in the face of failure. A parallel story tells how he passes this understanding to his children as they deal with their own prejudices and fears.
Please plan to arrive at about 1:30 to allow time to grab your popcorn and settle in before we start the film at 1:45, and, if your schedule allows, linger for a few minutes after to discuss the film.
