The New Patio Labyrinth at Arlington Community Church

Constructed in 2020, our labyrinth harks back to ancient spiritual traditions. Come and discover it for yourself!

Welcome

Whoever you are, and wherever you are on your journey of faith, you are welcome here.  Allow this labyrinth to lead the way to the peace you seek.

What is a labyrinth?

Labyrinths are sacred spaces. The labyrinth is an ancient spiritual symbol that represents a human being’s spiritual journey.

Found in various forms in many cultures, labyrinths can enhance creativity, calm, focus, and insight.

Labyrinths invite us to a journey of presence and prayer, to discover something about the Divine and ourselves.

More information about our labyrinth

The ACC labyrinth is a 5-circuit variation of a medieval design inlaid in the nave of Chartres Cathedral in France, around 1200 AD.

With guidance from master Labyrinth builder Lars Howlett, the congregation constructed the labyrinth on our new patio in early 2020.

Labyrinths are open to anyone to walk as a non-denominational cross-cultural practice for well-being.

Our labyrinth is open to everyone, at any time of day! It brings us joy to imagine you finding a few minutes of peace here.

How do I walk the labyrinth?

One might walk the labyrinth to quiet the mind, find balance, encourage meditation and insight, or for celebration.

Begin with an intention, question, or deep breath.

Clear your mind and become aware of your breathing pattern. Allow yourself to find the pace your body wants to walk.

The journey toward the center is a time to release your cares and concerns. You become open to the present moment, from which guidance can come.

The center is a place for prayer and reflection. Receive what the spirit has to offer you.

As you walk back out on the same path that brought you to the center, you become empowered to find and do the work for which your soul has been searching.

Retrace the path to the entrance and reflect on your experience.

We wish you well.

We hope your walk will be a powerful spiritual tool for you.  May God be with you as you journey through life.
