Holy Week & Easter at ACC, 2024


Palm Sunday, Processional & Light Refreshments, 3/24, 9:30am

Join us before worship for light refreshments and fellowship outside on our front patio. We’ll distribute palms and begin worship outside at 10am, then enter the Sanctuary together waving palms and singing. During the service we’ll consider the kind of kingdoms we yearn for and the Good News Jesus proclaimed about the Kingdom of God, a KINGDOM for all.


Book Discussion: Decolonizing Palestine, Sunday, 3/24, 11:15am

Join us in the Fireside Room for an important discussion of the book “Decolonizing Palestine: The Land, The People, The Bible” by Mitri Raheb, led by the chair of our Board of Mission & Social Justice, Dorothy Streutker. As we begin, Russel Baker will share an original song, “The Invisible People” from the perspective of the Palestinian people. 


Maundy Thursday Soup Supper & Service, 3/28 6pm

On Thursday evening, from 6pm to 7:30pm, we’ll gather in the Social Hall to share food and fellowship in a spirit of worship, remembering the night Jesus gathered with his friends, washed their feet, and called them to “love one another”. Our supper will be shared in a spirit of Holy Communion, and we’ll spend time together around tables in discussion, singing, Scripture reading, and prayer as we consider Jesus’ Good News of LOVE for all


Good Friday Service at Orinda Community Church UCC, 3/29, 7pm 

On Friday evening, join us in person or online as we gather with our Bay Area United Church of Christ family for this special service of prayer, music, and reflection. The theme of this year’s service is “Our lives connected: The cross as solidarity” The service will include a special offering for humanitarian need in Gaza through the UCC’s “Middle East Support” fund. Easter Sunday Celebration, “Together: What’s Mine Is Yours,” 3/31,10am

Join us as we gather for a joyful celebration of the story of Jesus’ resurrection and the new life the risen Christ invites us to embrace, a life of deep connection to God and to one another. We’ll sing and rejoice, pray for our world, hear beautiful music, and begin a new sermon series titled, “Together”. Children will enjoy goody bags and an indoor egg hunt activity (for all ages!) as part of the service. Be sure to stay for bunny cake and fellowship in Social Hall!


Easter Sermon Series, “Together,” March 31 - May 19

Throughout the season of Easter, we’ll consider the problem of loneliness in our society and how the message of Jesus and the witness of the early church calls us to connect, abide in love, help each other, widen our circles, overcome hate, and live abundant lives TOGETHER. 


Book Discussion: “Together” by Vivek Murphy, 4/14 & 5/19, 11:15am

As a companion to our Easter sermon series, all are invited to read “Together: The Healing Power of Human Connection in a Sometimes Lonely World” by US Surgeon General, Vivek Murthy. We will meet twice to discuss this book, on Sundays following worship:

  • April 14 - Section I: Making Sense of Loneliness, pg. 3-182

  • May 19 - Section II: Building A More Connected Life, pg. 185-284
